The 2nd Friday of the month:
An evening art / craft / cultural event held in Ocean Street Maroochydore.
After the success of Nights on Ocean over the last 3 years we know it can be difficult to navigate a stall space. So we are opening up an Expression of Interest opportunity and invitation to convince us why your product, art or performance should be included in our monthly MARKETS.
So whether you have applied before or have always thought it impossible we are keen to hear your pitch!
Expressions of interest for 2016-17 are now OPEN, closing 5pm Friday, 22rd July 2016.
A BIT ABOUT THE MARKETS & THE MRA
Nights on Ocean is one of the many initiatives by the MRA, a not for profit group of passionate locals who work together as volunteers to enrich the local economy and cultural experiences in the current Maroochydore Town Centre precinct.
Nights on Ocean has been one of the catalyst projects instrumental in the significant turnaround in the precinct over the last 3 years. This and our Captain and Duke Pop Up Alleyway Bar has enabled the MRA to self fund initiatives including Ocean St World Festival, commission artwork, strategy development and importantly forge greater private and public sector partnerships. For more about the MRA visit www.mra.org.au
This local led model of revitalisation has now spread across the coast creating a sharp spike in the new opportunities available for performers, artists and foodies - and we are seeing more entrepreneurs having a go and embarking on new business and creative ideas across the Sunshine Coast.
The MRA applauds this and want to support some more of these new ventures as fiercely as we nurture our valued market regulars as they build their businesses and relationships with locals and visitors. The MRA is also seeking to strengthen its partnerships with new artists and performers that are popping up on the Coast, school orchestras and bands, and cutting edge & experimental University concepts to continually add to the layers of urban experience that can be discovered.
Currently our Nights on Ocean Markets attract between 6–12 thousand people each month. IN other words this means heaps of people make a choice to come and immerse themselves amongst the bustle of people, the ever changing atmosphere of sounds, fragrance and accidental bump-in-tos, local art and produce, great food and music well after most places on the Coast have gone to bed.
